Franz Schubert
Richter plays Schubert at Snape
Composer | Franz Schubert |
Pianist | Sviatoslav Richter |
Genre | Recital |
Sviatoslav Richter was a frequent visitor to the Aldeburgh Festival, a personal friend and musical collaborator with Benjamin Britten. The year after Britten’s death in 1976 Richter returned to Aldeburgh to give the opening concert at the first Benson & Hedges Festival, which took place in October.
Schubert was one of Britten’s key composers and Richter here devotes his whole recital to that composer, with an early sonata and four short pieces in the first half, and the later Sonata D894 after the interval.
