Margaret Price sang Schubert’s Der Hirt auf den Felsen (The Shepherd on the Rock) as part of a concert given by the London Symphony Orchestra in March 1972. The Schubert song followed a performance of his Unfinished Symphony, which had been conducted by Erich Leinsdorf.  The conductor swapped roles to accompany on the piano and was joined by the orchestra’s Principal Clarinet at that time, Gervase de Peyer.

This recording was taken from a relay of a concert at the Royal Festival Hall, London on 2 March 1972.
