In fernem Land from ‘Lohengrin’ sung by Walter Midgley

The English tenor Walter Midgley sings Lohengrin's aria In fernem Land in English with orchestra
Composer Richard Wagner
Singer Walter Midgley

Walter Midgely was born in Bramley, near Rotherham, in 1912.  Before the war he sang with the Carl Rosa Opera Company and with Sadlers Wells Opera.  After the war he joined the Covent Garden Opera as a principal tenor, but left in 1953 after a difference with the management.

Midgely sings this aria from Lohengrin accompanied by an orchestra and in English.  It demonstrates the beauty and clarity of his tone and his care for language.
