These six songs are taken from a concert given by the great German Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau gave at the Royal Festival Hall, London in 1970 with one of his his regular accompanists Karl Engel. Fischer-Dieskau brings his extraordinary expressive skills to these songs, especially in the final song, Um Mitternacht, one of Mahler’s greatest and part of his Rückert-Lieder. Unfortunately, other songs from this recital has not been captured on Music Preserved or are unsuitable for publication because of sound issues.
